Timothy Horn
Kind of Blue
Oil on canvas, 30" x 36"
There is a version of winter where, instead of darkness, there is almost blinding light that etches out everyday scenes in a brilliance and shock of color. This beautifully captures that experience with careful observation and bold painterly work.

Second Place Winner | $500
James Tennison
Winter Light
Oil on linen, 18" x 18"
This work beautifully shows the calm of our ancient companion, bred to survive the harsh winter, in a modern landscape. It is deceptively straightforward, freezing the animal’s almost wise gaze amidst the palpable chill.

Third Place Winner | $250
Michael Godfrey
Winter’s Promise
Oil on board, 18" x 24"
There are quite winter moments that are never observed by humans, and whose silence and subtlety are almost impossible to imagine or communicate. This scene almost feels like an intrusion into the secret parts of nature scene. The artist beautifully applies a large arsenal of skills used to capture the observed, and make something even more than what is seen.
