Frank Rennsselear Liddell
(1864 – 1923)

Painter. Born in Wisconsin on September 4, 1864. Liddell settled in Los Angeles in 1883. A banker, he was self-taught artist who painted oils and watercolors as a hobby. By 1890 he was a competent landscape painter. While active in the local art scene, he was a founder of the Painters’ Club and the first president of the California Art Club. Liddell was active in Los Angeles until his death on November 9, 1923.
