  • The Club began to acquire paintings with the idea of creating a CAC Collection. They purchased two paintings, one by William Wendt and one by Jack Wilkinson Smith, later adding other works by Charles Bensco and John Hubbard Rich. The Rich painting bore the title “The Yellow Tea-Pot.” The last we hear of the Wendt painting is when its guardian, CAC member Clarence Izant, transferred it for safekeeping to CAC President Edward Chiapella shortly before Izant passed away April 20, 1949. The whereabouts of the CAC Art Collection is unknown today.
