Welcome to California features small works of iconic images of the Golden State, from pristine landscapes and seascapes to figurative works and still lifes. All artwork is framed and available for acquisition. See Terms of Sale.
Opening day for the exhibition, Sunday, November 29, is being celebrated as the first Artists Sunday – Earth’s Largest Art Event! This nationwide event encourages consumers to shop with artists and craftsmen. It’s like Black Friday, but for art. More information can be found here.
Art enthusiasts who purchase $500 of artwork from the exhibition will receive a gift certificate for a complimentary one-year membership at either the Associate Artist or Patron level for a new member. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these works will benefit the organization’s arts educational programming. This exhibition was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Pasadena.
Redlands, "Pueblo En El Sol was inspired by the sun-drenched adobes of Southern California. As an artist, I am drawn to the intense play of light and shadow, warm and cool. Combined with an endless variety of unique shapes and textures, they are natural for artistic interpretation."
Santa Ana, "The Bowers Museum is in Santa Ana, the civic seat for Orange County. The museum is one of the prime cultural attractions for visitors to Southern California. This painting was created en plein air, as part of an LPAPA paint-out, judged by Jean Stern. I set up outside the front gate and painted the view to my left, as I was intrigued by the California-style textures of the stark stucco and red-tiled roofs of the building's Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, and the verdant foliage of the museum's gardens.
The Bowers Museum is an art museum in Orange County, California. The museum's permanent collection includes over 100,000 objects and features notable strengths in the areas of Columbian, Meso-American, the art of Asia, Africa, Oceania, and California plein air painting. The Bowers organizes and hosts special exhibitions from institutions throughout the world, and travels exhibitions nationally and internationally."
Bode Historic Town, "The scenery of California is always a place of artistic inspiration for me. Bodie Historic Town is a place that shows the connection between the present and the past. This is where I can physically feel the existence of the past. The pastime shown in my work is the present time after all."
