Pismo Preserve Paint/Sculpt-Out
Monday, July 24 at 10:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
PISMO PRESERVE PAINT OUT is scheduled for Saturday, July 22, 2023.
At 880 acres, the Pismo Preserve offers exceptional and diverse views for the plein air artist. There are over 10 miles of existing ranch roads and trails that meander throughout the. These trails traverse serene oak woodlands and coastal ridgelines with stunning panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean stretching from the Irish Hills to Point Sal as well as numerous picturesque coppices disappearing trails, and inland canyon views.
There is parking (get there early) and restrooms on site – food is nearby in Pismo Beach or Shell Beach.
Some climbing may be involved, There is a ranch road near the restrooms that meanders into one of the canyons – nearly level, with a gradual rise; there is a zig-zag trail on the south end that is easy to navigate and takes you to nice views of Pismo Beach and ocean front as well as to the “Solo Oak” the subject of one of my favorite photographs; and there is a ranch road on the north side that becomes steep but takes you to a broad plateau with several picnic benches overlooking the ocean. Once you navigate the south or north side climb, most of the trails traversing the hillside are quite level and easy to walk.
Date & Time: Saturday, July 22; 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Pismo Preserve, 80 Mattie Rd, Pismo Beach, CA 93449
