Join the CAC in welcoming prominent Western portrait and landscape painter Frank Ordaz for an online demo and artist review session on Saturday, June 19, 2021. Frank will be painting from and has curated a series of images of Nevada City, California, the oldest California gold rush town still incorporated and thriving. Frank formerly worked for George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic as a matte painter and his iconic work has been featured in movies like the original Star Wars, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and E.T., among others. Since 2010, he has worked in his studio gallery in Auburn, California, painting portrait and landscape commissions.  We are proud to have him as a member of the California Art Club!

Artists have the opportunity to paint on your own from Frank’s curated images of Nevada City and the surrounding natural beauty in the time leading up to the virtual demonstration.  A difference from our usual virtual paint/sculpt-out format is that you have more time to complete a painting for submission and are free to enjoy the demonstration on the day of the event! Depending on the number of paintings submitted, there won’t be time to review all of the submissions but, we encourage you to submit.  We will review as many as we can in the time allotted. It’s a win-win! Also, you are not required to paint– this is just a bonus and a fun way to take part as an artist! Join us!

Artist Participation: Paint/sculpt the natural beauty and history of Nevada City, CA and submit your work for possible inclusion in the review session at the end of the demo. As stated, we won’t have time to review/critique all of the submissions but, Frank won’t see it unless you submit! All work submitted will be included in a gallery on the event page post-event(unless otherwise noted when submitting).
