Douglas Preserve and Roy Wilcox
The Douglas Preserve was formally known as the Wilcox Nursery, which was established in 1949 by Roy Wilcox. After the Nursery closed in 1972, it was intended to become a resort until UC Santa Barbara graduate Michael Douglas generously donated funds to preserve the land. In 1996, the Preserve was acquired by the Trust for Public Lands and transferred to the City of Santa Barbara a year later.
The Douglas Preserve offers 70 acres of beautiful scenic views of the coast as well as grasslands and a variety of plants and wildlife.
