Lumière de California

This plein air exhibition, Lumiere de California, celebrates the unique light of California as expressed through plein air painting.
The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center (BMCC) is located in South Bay San Diego along the Sweetwater River. From the mountains to the bay, the Sweetwater valley is an ideal location for plein air painting.

Plein air painter Alfred Mitchell started the Chula Vista Art Guild seventy six years ago to document the flora and fauna of South Bay San Diego. The museum organizes a yearly exhibition celebrating plein air painting and through Lumiere de California we celebrate the CAC artists and their ability to capture this spectacular light.

On display at The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center from May 21 to June 24, 2022. Visit the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center’s website for more details here.
