DIRECTIONS/PARKING: From the 5 fwy, take the 74/Ortega Highway exit and drive inland, about 7 miles. Watch for the sign, and the Park entrance is well-marked. Parking fee is $5. After the entrance, meet at second campsite on the right (across the dry riverbed).
EVENT FEE: Free, besides $5 parking fee.
NOTE: The giant Sycamores will be in good color, and there’s lots of wilderness, hillside and old oaks to paint. Wide fields of cacti across the dry creek bed, and lots of vista views of San Juan Creek. There’s a spectacular plateau view of the creek at the end of main access road. No amenities, so do bring lunch and/or snacks and water. Restrooms in the park.
