Directions:

From the San Fernando Valley:

Take the 101 Ventura Freeway north to Flynn Rd exit, Exit 53A. Turn right onto Mission Oaks Blvd.  Take the 1st left onto Camarillo Ranch Rd.

From Oxnard and Ventura:

Travel south on the 101 Ventura Freeway to Exit 53A toward Dawson Dr.  Turn right onto Petit St.  Turn right onto N Dawson Dr.  Stay straight to go onto Mission Oaks Blvd.  Turn left onto Camarillo Ranch Rd.

Event Starts: Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.

Event Ends: Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.*

Event fee:     $10/person, paid on arrival to Camarillo Ranch

Parking:       Ranch parking lot access is included in the event fee; please RSVP by 9/21/18 so we know how many will be in our group.

Facilities:     Toilets are located next to the stables.

Pack:              Water, lunch, sunscreen, umbrellas, and a drop cloth if painting on a surfaced area.

Come paint on the grounds of historic Camarillo Ranch, home of the founding family of Camarillo Town!  Adolfo Camarillo built the 1892 Queen Anne-style estate for his wife Isabella and their expanding family, which was restored in 2001 as a museum of our early California life.  For structures to capture, there’s the Victorian mansion, the original stables, Mule Barn, and a little pagoda.  Or you might find yourself drawn to the beautiful gardens, serene fountain, or historic trees – Moreton Bay Fig, the Bunya Bunya tree, or the Norfolk Island, or Star Pine, one of which at 110 feet tall is recognized as the tallest in California.  Adding to this venue’s charm are period-dressed docents ready to share rich information on all that you see there.

*There’s a wedding scheduled for that afternoon, so we must be done with gear packed and in our cars by 1:30 pm.  But as an extra BONUS, at 1:30 we’ve arranged for a docent-led tour for our group within the mansion to view what living was like from 1892 – 1915, including some treasured items donated by Camarillo family descendants.  Just might inspire some additional pieces to do back in your studio!
