Carolyn Lord Master Artist Workshop

Join us in celebrating the work of CAC Signature Artist Carolyn Lord and take the opportunity to learn from this Master Artist in a three{3} day watercolor workshop in the area of beautiful Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley(exact location will be posted soon).
Learn from a watercolor master in this informative and intensive, on-site three(3)-day workshop experience! Included will be demos, talks, instructional sessions and maybe a peacock or two as Carolyn shares her techniques and processes in creating her wonderful watercolor paintings. Instruction will be from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day at a special location in the Pasadena/ San Gabriel Valley area. All skill levels are invited.
Itinerary:
October 22, 2024:
Morning indoors: organize and fill the watercolor palette; discuss pigment selection; plein air painting equipment.
Afternoon: painting demonstration: selecting motif; equipment set-up; discussion of drawing, composition, painting strategies, light and shadow.
October 23, 2024:
All day: students do a morning painting and an afternoon painting; receive individual instruction throughout the day.
October 24, 2024:
All day: students do a new morning painting; receive individual instruction.
Afternoon: painting demonstration, students can share their work if they want, no formal, final critique
Parking is free and all location entry fees will be included in the workshop price
Lunch: bring beverages and refreshments

Artist Biography:
A “plein air” artist since college, Carolyn Lord early career was influenced by the 20th Century California Watercolor Style of Millard Sheets and his peers which featured bold color and strong design. Her recent watercolors and oils often include aspects of Tonalism and Impressionism.
She is inspired by the California’s vernacular architecture, landscape, and gardens. Lord’s paintings can be seen in galleries, in invitational and juried shows. Magazine articles and podcasts highlight her working methods and career.
