Rick Delanty

CAC Artist Member Rick J. Delanty has recently been elected to the Salmagundi Club as an artist member. He has also been selected as one of the “mainland” participating artists in the 2017 Maui Plein Air Invitational, for the second time.
The event will involve 26 artists selected from both the mainland and the islands to paint on Maui between February 18-26, with a culminating exhibition of their plein air works at the Royal Lahaina Resort.

Rick J. Delanty of San Clemente was awarded second place for his plein air 11″ x 14″ oil, San Mateo Valley, in the 2015 Paint San Clemente competition. Jurors for the event were Lori Putnam and John Cosby.

Rick J. Delanty received the “Best in Show” for his painting Fortress Cove at the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society’s Spring Online Exhibition for 2015, judged by Timothy Tyler. The exhibit features 150 paintings.

Otto Sturcke‘s pastel painting “El Musico” is included in El Velorio, a Day of the Dead themed exhibition at Plaza de la Raza in Lincoln Heights. CAC members Scott Kiche and Eric Merrell are also exhibiting work, along with 60+ artists. The exhibition runs through December 2.

Eric Merrell will have a large still life painting of an ofrenda or altarpiece included in El Velorio, a Day of the Dead themed exhibition at Plaza de la Raza in Lincoln Heights. CAC members Otto Tito Sturcke and Scott Kiche will also exhibit work along with 60+ artists. This family-friendly event includes music, food, and face painting along with the art exhibition.

Bryan Mark Taylor is participating in the Crested Butte Plein Air Invitational with some of the country’s top outdoor painters. The exhibition opens July 12 at Oh Be Joyful Gallery in Crested Butte, CO.

Esther Engelman‘s painting “New England Veterans” was selected as part of the Pastel Society of America’s upcoming Exhibition in New York. The exhibition runs September 2-29, 2014.

Robert Grogan


Out-of-State Artist Member Robert Grogan has had a book published by Random House Struik of South Africa. The book, Kalahari Summer in Photographs and Oils, features Grogan’s landscape paintings and wildlife photos from the past five summers of living in the Kalahari in southern Africa. The book is available on Amazon and through the artist’s website Paintings from the book will be shown in an exhibition at the William Humphreys National Art Museum in Kimberley, South Africa from November through January.

In October, Grogan will be honored by Texas State University with a Distinguished Alumni Award for his lifetime achievements.

Nancy Seamons Crookston received the Gold Medal Award in the Master Signature division for the painting “Spettro” at the Oil Painters of America’s 23rd National Juried Exhibition. The exhibition is on view at the Bennington Center for the Arts in Bennington, VT, from June 7 – 27, 2014.
