First Traveling Exhibit

The first stop of this traveling exhibition was held under the auspices of the South Side Ebell Club at the Vernon Public Library Branch, Forty-first Street and Central Avenue, Los Angeles, Calif. November 16 – 23 (?), 1915
As part of an effort towards art education, the CAC organized a traveling exhibition of members’ work that was shown at libraries, clubs and other local organizations. The public were invited to attend the free exhibits, which included about fifty paintings and sculpture. Alma May Cook of the CAC gave lectures about the art to visitors, including “What Art Means to Every-Day Life” and “What the Catholic Church Has Done For Art.
Later it traveled to the Pomona Ebell Club (c. Dec. 12-18, 1915),
the Santa Monica Bay Women’s Club (c. Dec. 20 -25, 1915),
the Hollywood Presbyterian Church (Jan. 1916),
the Hollywood Women’s Club (Jan. 1916),
the San Fernando Ebell Club (Jan. 1916),
the Long Beach Ebell (Jan. 1916),
the University of Southern California (Jan. 1916),
the Long Beach Public Library (week of April 2, 1916),
Santa Barbara, (c.May 1916),
Fullerton Public Library, (second 1/2 of May 1916),
the Boyle Heights Library (August 1916);
It was also shown at the Girl’s Collegiate School, Alhambra Public Library, Santa Barbara Public Library, Redondo Beach Public Library (8 libraries in all); in the cities of Tropico, Pomona, Hollywood, Santa Paula, Sierra Madre, Ontario, Covina, Riverside, Corona, Glendale, Santa Monica, Colton and San Diego before ending the tour at the East Los Angeles Public Library Branch (September 1916).
