An emblematic image in Claremont, California. Inspired by California Impressionism here in SoCal, I wanted to capture the eternal quality of the snowy peaks in combination with the new life springing forth from the cherry blossoms in the foreground.
Rarely do the mountains and sky look like a painting but the evening that inspired Impressionist Sunset was one of those rare nights. The glow of the sun turned the mountains pink as the atmosphere in the sky reflected the warm colors. I captured the light just before it faded into night.
