Virtual Paint/Sculpt-Out on Mars with William Stout
On April 10, 2021, we will “zoom” into the cosmos to create new works of the Red Planet, using photography taken during various Mars missions, including the current mission with the Perseverance rover.
Our guide for this virtual adventure is CAC Signature Artist William Stout, who has received worldwide acclaim for his science-based artwork and motion picture art (“Conan the Barbarian” and “Pan’s Labyrinth”). He will be joined by JPL Physicist John Callas, the Project Manager for the Mars Exploration Rover project.
This event will include a Zoom review session during which Stout and some of his fellow artists will discuss a selection of works created during the paint/sculpt-out.
The program is open to all levels of CAC membership as well as non-members.
CAC Members: $25.00
Detailed Schedule for the Virtual Paint/Sculpt-Out:
9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Time for painting and sculpting! Participating artists will be emailed a link to a webpage with instructions for the event. As works are completed, they may be submitted for possible consideration for the review session.
2:00 p.m. Deadline for submitting artwork for consideration for the review session.
Approximately 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. The Zoom review session with the artists begins. During this session, they will provide brief comments and observations on a selection of approximately 5-10 works. Due to time constraints, unfortunately, they will not be able to comment on all works submitted. The artists will use their best judgment to select examples for which they can provide comments that will be most beneficial for the group as a whole.
Works submitted for the review session will be posted on the CAC website, unless a participant wishes to opt-out.
