Virtual Paint/Sculpt-Out in Jim McVicker’s Garden

Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

View Works Created During Event

On Saturday September 12, 2020, we will “zoom” to Northern California for a visit with Signature Artist Jim McVicker and create new works inspired by his expansive garden and intriguing objects in his adjacent studio.

This award-wining artist has created a wealth of memorable landscapes, floral studies and still lifes from the comforts of his Humboldt County home and has carefully curated for this virtual paint/sculpt-out a series of images from his surroundings that have informed his paintings.

This event will include a Zoom review session during which Jim will discuss a selection of five to six works created during the paint/sculpt-out. He will focus his comments on those that he believes will provide insights that will be the most enlightening for all participants.

At the end of the session will be a drawing for an original Jim McVicker painting.

Members can use this opportunity to begin works for possible submission in garden-themed exhibitions being planned for 2021.

The program is open to all levels of CAC membership as well as non-members.

Cost:
CAC Members: $35.00
Non-Members: $90.00*
Students: $40.00*

This event is sold out.

*The cost for non-members includes a one-year membership at the Associate Artist or Student Artist level. A valid student ID is required for students interested in participating in this event.

Detailed Schedule for the Virtual Paint/Sculpt-Out:

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Time for painting and sculpting! Participating artists will be emailed a link to a welcome message from Jim McVicker as well as the images that he has selected. As works are completed, they may be submitted for possible consideration for the review session with the artist.

2:00 p.m.  Deadline for submitting artwork for consideration for the review session.

3:15 – 4:00 p.m. The Zoom review session with Jim begins.  During this session, he will provide brief comments and observations on a selection of approximately five to six works.  Due to time constraints, unfortunately, he will not be able to comment on all works submitted. Jim will use his best judgment to select examples for which he can provide comments that will be most beneficial for the group as a whole.

4:00 p.m. The event concludes with a drawing for an original Jim McVicker painting, which has been generously donated by the artist. All participants who submit for the review session at least one work inspired by Jim McVicker’s photos are eligible for the drawing.

Works submitted for the review session will be posted on the CAC website, unless a participant wishes to opt-out.

This program was made possible, in part, by a grant from the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of Pasadena.
