The Greater Sacramento Sierra Chapter of the California Art Club presents:

A paint/sculpt-out along The American River Parkway — from Bannister Park to the Sacramento Bar Park in Fair Oaks, CA.

Along the 0.8-mile trail between the two parks there are many treed vistas from which to select for painting subjects. The main path is paved but features several off-shoot unpaved trails that wind throughout this area which lead to a series of ponds, the American River, and up and over the hilly mounds of tailings left from the gold rush era in this oak forested area.  Wildlife, mostly deer and birds, are a common sight any time of the day.

Artists have options:

Option l:  Park (for free) at Bannister Park at 7:30 a.m. and walk the 0.8-mile path to check out possible painting sites and check-in with the Chapter Co-Chair, Karen Nichols, meet the group and featured artist, Terry Miura at 8:15 in the picnic area of Sacramento Bar Park.

Option 2:  Pay to park ($6/vehicle) or use your County Park Pass to park at the Sacramento Bar Park and check-in with Chapter Co-Chair in the picnic area near the footbridge which crosses the American River at 8:15 a.m.

Our featured artist, Terry Miura, will be there to greet you at 8:15 a.m. and will be scouting out his own site for painting that day. You are free to select your favored site to paint.

At 2:30 p.m., return to the picnic area at Sacramento Bar for a “show and tell” and friendly critique by Terry Miura.

Parking:              Parking is free at Bannister Park but $6/vehicle without County Park Pass to park at Sacramento Bar.
