The Malibu/Ventura County Chapter and Pasadena/LA Chapter are joining forces to host a special paint/sculpt-out on Sunday, June 17.

Following the Paint/Sculpt-Out, CAC is hosting a special demonstration and tour with David A. Leffel at the Frederick R. Weisman Museum at Pepperdine University. This event is sold out. For more information on the demo and tour, click here. Contact Kate Austin to be placed on the waiting list.

Venue: Adamson House at Malibu Lagoon State Beach
23200 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu

Time: Paint/Sculpt-Out: 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Though the Adamson House is immediately adjacent to the beach, there is a fence that separates the two properties. The Park Rangers are concerned about where you paint on the grounds. Bring a drop cloth or plan to paint on the grass.

At about 1:00 p.m., we plan to leave the Adamson House and travel a short distance over to the Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine to tour David A. Leffel: The Mastery of Light with Dr. Michael Zakian, the show’s curator and Weisman Museum’s director, and with the artist himself (2:00 – 3:00 p.m.). This exhibit is a retrospective of David Leffel’s over fifty years of devotion to exploring the magic and mystery of light and reveals why he is regarded as one of today’s great masters of traditional realist art. Leffel will give a one hour demonstration directly following the tour (3:00 – 4:00 p.m.).

Directions/Parking:
From the North, take the 101 Freeway to south on Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon Road to PCH. From the Westside, take the 10 Freeway to Highway 1 (PCH). The Adamson House is located just east of the Malibu Civic Center area. The Malibu pier and Surfrider State Beach are just to the East, and Malibu Lagoon is just to the West.
