Wagner's Ring Festival Paint-Out
@ Maranatha High School, Sept. 12, 2009

As part of the Centennial celebration of the California Art Club, Club artists have been creating paintings and sculpture for a unprecedented display of artwork inspired by Richard Wagner's epic operas, The Ring of the Nibelung.  The works  will be showcased at multiple venues during Ring Festival LA, an 11-week citywide cultural festival that kicks off April 15 in conjunction with the Los Angeles Opera's first-ever presentation of the four-opera drama.

The California Art Club is among 50 cultural institutions that have joined forces with the Los Angeles Opera to be part of Ring Festival LA. This event will be the largest cultural event produced in the city since the 1984 Olympics, and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from around the world who will experience the city's wealth of arts and cultural offerings.

CAC is very pleased to be part of this historic event. As our President Peter Adams explains, "This exciting event gives our artists a wonderful opportunity to challenge themselves in new and different ways. Painters and sculptors are invited to explore imaginative new approaches to creating figurative, landscape and even still-life works of art."
