Hollyhock House Opening Exhibition (1927)

August 31 – September 30, 1927
Hollyhock House, Barnsdall Park, Los Angeles, CA

[The design above is from the cover of the original exhibition pamphlet. This logo is seen subsequently on Gold Medal brochure covers dating from the Hollyhock years, specifically the 18th (1927), 19th (1928), 20th (1929), 21st (1930), 23rd (1932), and 24th Annual (1933). It also appears on the front page of the CAC Bulletin beginning in August 1927. Designed by Harrison Wily (then Art Director for Columbia Pictures Corporation), it was based on Frank Lloyd Wright’s “formalized” geometric hollyhock design, but with an added border around three of it’s sides. It was also used as the letterhead design on the Club’s stationary.]
