On Location in Malibu 2018

EXHIBITION DESCRIPTION: We are pleased to announce that the California Art Club and the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art are partnering to organizing the exhibition On Location in Malibu 2018, which will be the seventh in a series which has been held every three years since 1999. On Location in Malibu 2018 is a juried exhibition curated by Dr. Michael Zakian, Director, Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art.

ELIGIBLE TO APPLY: Open to current California Art Club members in one of the following categories: Signature Artist, Artist, Out-of-State Artist, and Mentor Program Member.

SUBJECT: You are encouraged to explore and depict Malibu as you wish, using any subject, including landscapes, seascapes, urban scenes and local people. Malibu is one of the most picturesque regions in the nation, featuring topography that ranges from the Santa Monica Mountains and canyons to the Pacific Ocean and the beach. In addition to the natural environment, Malibu offers an active, vibrant community of residents and visitors that fuel artistic creativity. We are sure you will find many subjects that will inspire you!

MEDIUM: Paintings in oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic

Submit works up to a maximum of 72 inches tall or wide. The main gallery of the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art is a majestic space with a 24-foot high ceiling. We encourage artists to submit larger, accomplished works that will better fit the impressive scale of the museum setting. Of course, smaller studies done “on location” are also encouraged.

COMMISSION: 60% Artist; 20% Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art; 20% CAC [Works may be “NFS” – Not for Sale]

Each artist may submit up to 4 works. Please pay $40 by credit card through Online Juried Shows.

NOTIFICATIONS: Artists will be notified via email on or around April 2, 2018.

ARTWORK DROP-OFF: May 7 – 11, 2018
Delivery and shipping information will be provided upon notification of acceptance.

*NOTE: Artists will be responsible for the cost of crating, handling, and shipping artwork to and from the
Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art.

ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: Saturday, May 19, 2018; 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art

ARTWORK PICK-UP: After the close of the exhibition you will need to arrange pick-up and shipping. Further information will be provided upon acceptance.

The Shape of Water

DEADLINE: Monday, April 9, 2018

EXHIBITION DATES: June 1 – September 25, 2018

QUALIFICATIONS: Open to active Artist, Out-of-State Artist, Associate Artist or Student Members of the California Art Club.

SUBJECT: We are looking for paintings that capture water scenes from the East Coast to the West Coast, and beyond. Whether the artwork be of an ocean, lake, river, stream, or other water form, we are looking for your highest quality work!

MEDIUM: Only original paintings in oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic will be accepted.

COMMISSION: 60% Artist; 20% Altadena Town & Country Club; 20% CAC
All artwork MUST be for sale.

HOW TO APPLY: You may submit up to 5 paintings through Online Juried Shows.

ENTRY DONATION: Please pay by credit card through Online Juried Shows. The first image you submit is $35, and each additional image is $10.

NOTIFICATIONS: Notifications will be sent to artists via email on or about Friday, April 20, 2018.

ARTWORK DROP-OFF: Wednesday, May 30, 2018; 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Altadena Town & Country Club

*If artists cannot drop-off accepted artwork in person during the designated date and time, artwork must be shipped.

OUT-OF-TOWN SHIPPING Out-of-town shipments MUST arrive by Friday, May 25, 2018.

Artists will be responsible for the cost of crating, handling, and shipping artwork to and from the exhibition via Box & Ship in Pasadena, CA. Box & Ship will charge a $40.00 handling fee. Please DO NOT ship paintings to the Altadena Town & Country Club. Further shipping information will be provided upon acceptance.

ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: Sunday, June 3, 2018; 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Altadena Town & Country Club

Canyons to Coves

SUBJECT: We are looking for artwork that showcases the majestic grandeur of canyons to the intimate beauty of coves, from the East Coast to the West Coast, and beyond. We exhibit high quality work, so give us your best!

MEDIUM: Paintings in oil, watercolor, pastel or acrylic

COMMISSION: 60% Artist; 20% Old Mill; 20% CAC
All artwork MUST be for sale.

The is no limit to the number of pieces you can submit to the exhibition. There are no entry fees for this exhibition.

TIP: When titling your artwork, you may want to consider adding the location. We are more likely to use your work in the press if we know the location.
